Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jorik Vartanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Pirrup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jorik Vartanov looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pirrup throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Vartanov tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pirrup is in Vartanov's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Pirrup wants to control from the top but Vartanov keeps moving.
Pirrup postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Pirrup is pushing down on Vartanov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vartanov is fighting to maintain full guard but Pirrup has managed to sneak the leg through.
Vartanov blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pirrup.

Pirrup seems to be working for a kimura but Vartanov defends the submission attempt.
Vartanov pushes Pirrup off looking to stand but Pirrup dives back in and keeps control.
Pirrup thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vartanov's head.
Vartanov is not content to let Pirrup control the position.
Vartanov is trying to stand up here but Pirrup is controlling him well.

Pirrup tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vartanov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Pirrup has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pirrup looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vartanov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pirrup is keen to just control but Vartanov is a slippery customer.
Vartanov is in trouble now - Pirrup has advanced to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vartanov is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Vartanov is breathing heavily.
Pirrup is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Vartanov can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Pirrup is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Pirrup breaks from Vartanov's wrist control and lands an elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
