PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Iso Stara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jp Califf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, jp Califf!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Califf looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Califf.
Califf fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stara avoids it really well and circles away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Stara.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Stara, right into the meat.
Califf looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stara is fending him off so far but Califf persists. Nope, Stara circles away and we're back to standing.
Iso Stara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jp Califf.

Califf jumps guard and drags Stara to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Stara drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stara jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Califf is looking to stand back up but Stara counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Califf.
Califf is not content to let Stara control the position.
Well, if Stara is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
