PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Cerrone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oliver Schwalle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schwalle has chosen Max Payne theme as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Oliver Schwalle was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stephen Cerrone!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oliver Schwalle!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Schwalle misses.
Schwalle misses with an uppercut.
Cerrone avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Schwalle swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Cerrone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Schwalle sprawls well initially but Cerrone persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Cerrone wants to stand but Schwalle has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Cerrone wants to take a breather but Schwalle is having none of it.

Cerrone stands up and beckons Schwalle to join him on the feet.
Cerrone misses with a wild combination.
Schwalle feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cerrones jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Schwalle throws a looping overhand right but Cerrone ducks down to avoid it.
Schwalle throws a hook to the side of Cerrone's head but Cerrone sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Schwalle misses with a combination
and Cerrone counters with a nice uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A swing and a miss from Schwalle.
Schwalle misses with a looping right.
Oliver Schwalle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cerrone moves out of range of the strikes.
Cerrone looks to land a combination but Schwalle avoids it well.
Oliver Schwalle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Schwalle misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nice body punch from Cerrone.
Schwalle walks into a left hand.

Cerrone closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Schwalle did well to prevent Cerrone getting side control.

Cerrone is looking for a kimura but Schwalle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cerrone to get the leverage.
Cerrone tries to pass the half guard into mount. Schwalle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Cerrone seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schwalle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Schwalle pushes Cerrone off looking to stand but Cerrone dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cerrone stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schwalle throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Schwalle scores with a three punch combo!
A jab lands there for Schwalle.
Cerrone has a takedown stuffed.
Schwalle misses with a double jab
and Cerrone counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Cerrone bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Schwalle avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cerrone goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Schwalle swings away with a body shot that misses
and Cerrone counters with a stiff right hand.
Cerrone doesn't manage to clinch there - Schwalle circles away.
Cerrone swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Schwalle misses with a hook.
A telegraphed right hand from Schwalle misses the target.
Cerrone wants to clinch up but Schwalle keeps it at a distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cerrone tries to move into range but Schwalle moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Cerrone lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Schwalle can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Cerrone and Schwalle drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Cerrone.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stephen Cerrone!

During a confident post fight interview, Stephen Cerrone thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
