PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Power Ranger Blue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blue has chosen Youth Gone Wild- Skid Row as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blue swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Malapitan counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Malapitan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Malapitan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Malapitan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Malapitan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Blue rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Malapitan's guard! Nice work there by Blue!
Malapitan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Malapitan controls Blue momentarily but Blue frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Malapitan shoots in and drives through. Blue sprawls well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Blue can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blue is fighting to break Malapitan's control of his arms but Malapitan is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Raje Malapitan.
Blue ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Malapitan moves away.
Blue will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Blue connects with a leg kick. Malapitan looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Power Ranger Blue showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Blue lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Blue.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Malapitan has gone for a leg lock! Blue slips out almost immediately though and dives into Malapitan's guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Raje Malapitan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Blue scores with a one two! Malapitan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Blue defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Malapitan.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Raje Malapitan.
