Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dongmin Oh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lawrence King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying King's choice of entrance music: Ennio Morricone - Once Upon a Time in the West. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dongmin Oh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lawrence King!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Oh ducks under a wild hook from King.
King lands with a cross.
King throws a shot to the body.
King looks for a takedown but Oh sprawls well.
King fails with the takedown.
Dongmin Oh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawrence King.
King throws an overhand right that lands on Oh's shoulder, as Oh tries to avoid the shot.
King slips a jab from Oh.
King scores with a nice strike.

King shoots in and bounces Oh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King trying to control but Oh is working from the bottom.

Oh lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for King!
King keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
King bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and King jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
King tries to free his leg and advance position but Oh is retaining full guard.
Oh wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.

Oh utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
King trying to control but Oh is working from the bottom.
King pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Oh is keeping the position for now.

King postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Oh is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of King, into his guard.

King is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Oh defends well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oh gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

A low kick from Oh misses
and King counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
No luck with that takedown attempt from King.
King takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
King cracks Oh with a right hand to the side of the head.
King throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Oh defends well against a solid takedown attempt from King.
Oh throws the left hand but King avoids the punch easily.
Oh throws a leg kick which misses King's front leg but catches the back leg as King tries to avoid it.
Oh fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but King is out of range.
Lawrence King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oh ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
King misses with a body shot.
Oh tried to score with a low kick but King checks it.

Oh lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
King checks a low kick from Oh.
Oh throws a quick inside leg kick.
King tries to clinch up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from King is defended easily by Oh.
King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Oh as he avoids it easily.
A chopping leg kick lands by Oh.
A telegraphed right hand from King misses the target.
King connects with a single shot there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A nice inside leg kick there by Oh. That's going to slow King down.
King might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
King looks winded!
Oh feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to King's calf.
King throws a jab but it's blocked by Oh.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lawrence King will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Oh forces King back against the cage and clinches.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Oh creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

King gets control of Oh's arms and successfully pulls guard. King will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Oh stopping the sweep attempt from King.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Oh trying to stand up but can't free himself from King's guard.
Oh trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

King had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Oh defends it easily.

King looking for a guillotine here but Oh defends easily.
Oh has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Oh wanted to stand there but King had control of the position.
Oh postures up in King's guard and throws a big left but King blocks it.

King has his foot on Oh's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Oh works his way back into a safe position though.
Lawrence King has got the better of the ground game so far.

King looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Oh decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Oh throws a jab but it's blocked by King.
King cracks Oh with a right hand to the side of the head.
Oh throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
King is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Oh lands a head kick!
Oh cracks King with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Oh forces King back against the cage and clinches.
King throws a punch but it's blocked by Oh.
King lands a nice uppercut.
King is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Oh is keeping busy.
King wants to take the fight to the mat but Oh manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Oh breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
King is looking to clinch.
King closes the distance and clinches up with Oh, looking for a takedown. King pushes Oh against the cage but Oh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oh misses with a wild body shot.
A bone on bone clash there as King blocks the leg kick.
Oh is looking to land body kicks.
Nice sprawl there from Oh as King shoots in.
Dongmin Oh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawrence King.
Oh misses with a head kick.
Oh fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt King.

King scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Oh doesn't seem bothered though.
Oh keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Good leg kick by Oh there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
King looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Oh throws an uppercut from half a mile away. King sees it coming and avoids it easily.
King scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Oh doesn't seem bothered though.
Both fighters circling a little - Oh finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
A good leg kick by Oh.
Oh throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent King stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Oh lands with a shot to the body.

Oh rushes King and presses him up against the cage.

Oh stalling the fight.
King takes an elbow to the temple.


It looks like Lawrence King has been cut.
Oh missing with knees to the body.
Oh comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Oh misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from King.
King misses with a hook to the ribs.
King lands a left hand.
Oh misses with a hook to the ribs.
King is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Oh pulls him back up using the underhooks.
King takes an elbow to the temple.
Oh lands an elbow inside.
Oh is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. King is defending well for now.
King is looking for a takedown.

King swings wildly with an uppercut but Oh uses good head movement to avoid it.
Oh blocks an uppercut.
With the fighters up against the cage, Oh throws an elbow but misses.

The cut man is working on Lawrence King's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Oh throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

King throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Oh was covering up waiting for the punch and King finishes the takedown easily into guard.

King is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
King with a flurry of punches that miss.
King wants to control from the top but Oh keeps moving.
King won't allow Oh to sweep him here.

Oh is pulling down on King's head to control his posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as King accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
King stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
King wants to control from the top but Oh keeps moving.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Oh wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

King drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King throws an elbow that misses. Oh uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in King's guard. Nice move by Oh!

King is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

King escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Oh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Oh gets to his feet - King follows without any prompting.
Dongmin Oh is winning the standup battle so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King closes the distance and clinches up with Oh, looking for a takedown. King pushes Oh against the cage but Oh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
King's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
King looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dongmin Oh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King throws out a loose jab but Oh uses good head movement to avoid it.
King gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Oh counters with a nice uppercut.

Oh moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Oh turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Oh tries a head kick but it misses.
Oh lands a front kick.
King takes one on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oh misses with a low kick as King jumps back.
King has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Oh.
Oh throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck King on the side of the head.

King takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

King checks the leg kick.

King throws an off balance right hand
and Oh counters with a big head kick but King shrugs it off.
King will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Oh fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage.
Oh is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Oh escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oh throws a sloppy head kick and King moves out of range easily.
King dives in and grabs Oh's left leg, looking for a takedown. Oh pushes down on King's head and hops out.
Oh lands a nice looking kick to the body. King takes a step back to recover.
Oh with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Oh lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Oh tries to land a front kick but King steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Oh scoring well with a low kick there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dongmin Oh showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Oh has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Dongmin Oh spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
