Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Zerra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Arona!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arona misses with a wild combination.
Arona looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Arona tries for a takedown but Zerra sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Zerra looks for a takedown but Arona sprawls well.
Zerra shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Arona eats them both and turns towards Zerra to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Zerra lands with a good body shot.
Zerra connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Nice uppercut lands for Zerra. That snapped Arona's head back.
Zerra cracks Arona with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


Arona is rocked!
Jason Arona seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zerra slips under a jab.
Arona is still on wobbly legs! Can Zerra finish him?
Nice defenses there by Arona.
Zerra bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Arona's head backwards.
Arona stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Arona wants it to stay on the feet.

Zerra is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Arona's half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Arona keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Zerra drops an elbow to the side of Arona's head.
Zerra lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Zerra thows a huge punch but Arona dodges it nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Arona can do anything to dispel that myth.
Zerra wants to pass to mount but Arona is defending the position.

Zerra not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Zerra wants to control but Arona is keeping him busy.

Zerra is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Arona is just riding it out for now. Zerra eventually gives up the hold.
Zerra looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Arona with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zerra wants to pass the guard but Arona is defending well.
Arona keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Arona pushes Zerra off looking to stand but Zerra dives back in and keeps control.
Zerra not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Zerra is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Arona has managed to free his arm - good work.
Zerra passes to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zerra connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Arona some visible discomfort.

Zerra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Arona keeps working.
Zerra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Arona seems to have recovered his senses.
Zerra creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Zerra throws an elbow but Arona slips to the side and avoids it well.
Zerra grinds an elbow into Arona's temple.
Arona takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Zerra is putting a hurting on Arona here, landing some big shots from side control.
Arona pushes Zerra away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Zerra gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Arona takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd goes nuts as Zerra knocks Arona out cold with a massive hammerfist! Zerra Jumps to his feet and climbs on top of the cage to celebrate with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Matt Zerra!
During a confident post fight interview, Matt Zerra thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
