Hoffman kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is to the stage. The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Hoffman coming out on top.
No joy there for Hoffman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ruiz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hoffman pinned against the cage. Hoffman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ruiz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hoffman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Ruiz has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hoffman is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ruiz yanks on the arm and Hoffman is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ruiz.
