PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Toshiro Kishimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glen Burnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kishimoto comes to the cage accompanied by Fighting dreamers. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Toshiro Kishimoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Glen Burnett!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kishimoto lands a front kick.
Kishimoto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Burnett as he avoids it easily.

Kishimoto scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Kishimoto tries to advance to mount but Burnett denies him.
Kishimoto working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Kishimoto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burnett keeps working.
Burnett is looking to reverse the position.
Kishimoto could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Burnett is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kishimoto off and has taken his back!
Burnett controlling the position well here. Kishimoto rolled but Burnett kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Burnett thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Kishimoto wants to escape the position.
Burnett trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Kishimoto doesn't escape.
Burnett's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kishimoto trying to control the action but Burnett just sinks the hooks in.
Burnett biding his time, looking for the opening.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kishimoto tries to escape but Burnett has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Burnett has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kishimoto's body.

Despite being in the dominant position, Glen Burnett just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kishimoto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kishimoto showed some decent athleticism there.
Kishimoto is breathing heavily.
Burnett is controlling Kishimoto's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Kishimoto is looking to stall here but Burnett recovers full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Burnett has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kishimoto wants to pass the guard but Burnett is keeping the position.

Kishimoto tries to clinch but Burnett is having none of it.
Kishimoto takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kishimoto tries to bum rush Burnett with a series of wild strikes but Burnett uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kishimoto tries for a takedown but Burnett sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kishimoto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kishimoto tries to clinch but Burnett is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burnett closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kishimoto to the mat! Kishimoto manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Burnett seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kishimoto is trying to stand.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kishimoto tries to roll over but Burnett keeps him under control.
Kishimoto slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Burnett postures up.
Burnett won't allow Kishimoto to sweep him here.

Kishimoto working for a triangle but Burnett defends it easily.
Burnett is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kishimoto wants to stand and escape but Burnett is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Burnett clinches with his opponent.
The is referee keeping an eye on Kishimoto - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Kishimoto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Burnett counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kishimoto's guard now.

Burnett not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kishimoto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Burnett's guard.
Burnett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Burnett is looking to take a break and control but Kishimoto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kishimoto wants to get back to his feet.
Burnett is thwarting Kishimoto's attempts to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Glen Burnett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

and Kishimoto decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Burnett's guard.

Burnett is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

and Burnett counters with a shoot takedown. Kishimoto fights it but they end up in guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Burnett gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Glen Burnett has got the better of the ground game so far.

Burnett wants to sweep but no luck.

Burnett pulls Kishimoto in to control the position.
Burnett scores with a short punch from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Glen Burnett.
Well Burnett has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
