Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saunders takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Saunders throws a sloppy head kick and Van Damme moves out of range easily.
No luck for Van Damme with that takedown attempt.
Van Damme shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Saunders as he avoids it easily.
Van Damme stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A combination from Saunders does no damage.

and Van Damme counters with a stiff right hand.
Saunders throws a low kick but it's checked well by Van Damme.
A head kick misses from Saunders.

Saunders lands a left and a right that send Van Damme crashing to the mat, dazed. Saunders thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Stijn Van Damme has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Van Damme slips a jab and a cross from Saunders.
Saunders looks to throw the jab but Van Damme is out of range.

Van Damme shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Saunders is trying to defend but Van Damme finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Van Damme is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saunders won't allow Van Damme to pass to mount.
Saunders tries to get to full guard but Van Damme has control of the leg.
Van Damme takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Saunders makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Van Damme shoots in looking for a takedown but Saunders manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Van Damme's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Van Damme throws an elbow but Saunders slips to the side and avoids it well.

Saunders is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Van Damme is controlling him well.

Van Damme tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Saunders is looking to regain half guard here but Van Damme keeps moving and retains side control.
Saunders is trying to control Van Damme's posture but Van Damme avoids it.

Saunders tries to lock up and control but Van Damme gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Saunders's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

It looks like Van Damme might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacob Saunders will probably get the nod.
