The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martello throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Phoenix 's waist but Phoenix gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martello off to one side.
Phoenix lands with a cross.
Martello takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Max Martello seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martello misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Martello, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Martello shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Phoenix as he avoids it easily.
Phoenix displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Martello.
Simon Phoenix has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Martello.

Phoenix cracks Martello with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Martello takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Martello is trying desperately to land a takedown but Phoenix is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Martello.

Phoenix swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Martello.
Phoenix connects with a body shot that sends Martello's belly button to the back.
Martello moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Martello finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Phoenix 's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Martello falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
