And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryu Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kingston fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Paulo sprawls well initially but Kingston persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kingston is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Kingston is looking for a kimura but Paulo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kingston to get the leverage.
The fighters are battling for position here. Paulo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kingston looking to sit in guard and control but Paulo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kingston controls Paulo momentarily but Paulo frees himself.
Paulo throws a big elbow that misses.
Kingston is trying to keep Paulo in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Ryu Kingston showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
