Tiernan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DESERT STORM by Tartanic. Haiki Masatupo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masatupo throws a sloppy head kick and Tiernan moves out of range easily.
Masatupo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Tiernan fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Masatupo is out of range.
Tiernan tries to clinch there but Masatupo circles away.
Tiernan throws a series of punches but Masatupo moves out of range.
Tiernan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Masatupo.
Tiernan is looking to clinch but Masatupo is avoiding it.
Masatupo tries a head kick but it misses.

Masatupo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Tiernan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Masatupo takes a swing at Tiernan's ribcage but misses.
Tiernan connects with an inside leg kick.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Tiernan looks to land a combination but Masatupo avoids it well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tiernan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Masatupo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Tiernan pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Tiernan struggles to land a body shot inside as Masatupo controls his hands.

Masatupo drops down looking for an ankle pick but Tiernan pulls his leg out and moves away.

Tiernan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Masatupo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tiernan's guard.

Masatupo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tiernan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tiernan has escaped and now he's on top!
Tiernan wants to stand but Masatupo is controlling his posture from full guard.
Tiernan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Masatupo throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Masatupo has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Tiernan doesn't defend quickly enough and Masatupo has managed to lock this one up! Can Tiernan escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Masatupo on a fantastic submission victory.
