Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Diego Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez just misses with a punch to the body.
Hall bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hall throws a nice inside leg kick.
Sanchez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sanchez looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Sanchez closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Sanchez tries to move into range but Hall moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hall paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Hall throws a lazy right hand but Sanchez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hall blocks a low kick nicely.
Hall defending well as Sanchez loads up on a big left hand.

Sanchez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hall to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hall trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hall slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hall wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.

Hall wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Don Hall.
Hall scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sanchez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hall throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sanchez.
Hall misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hall checks a leg kick.
Sanchez lands the left hand.

A swing and a miss from Hall.
Hall just misses with a punch to the body.
Sanchez lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Hall checks a low kick from Sanchez.

Hall throws a shot from downtown. Sanchez moves away and avoids it.
Nice defenses there by Hall.
Hall swings for the body but Sanchez moves out of range.
Hall throws a hook but Sanchez blocks it.
Sanchez misses with a wild body shot.
Hall misses with a hook to the body
and Sanchez counters with a stiff right hand.
Hall checks a leg kick nicely.
A bone on bone clash there as Hall blocks the leg kick.
Sanchez thuds his right hand into Hall's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Sanchez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hall lands a head kick. Sanchez smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Diego Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hall shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sanchez but Sanchez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sanchez throws a leg kick

and Hall counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sanchez is controlling Hall's trapped leg to prevent Hall from advancing to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hall is looking for a kimura but Sanchez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hall to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez pushes Hall off looking to stand but Hall dives back in and keeps control.

Hall is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sanchez is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Don Hall!
A very excited looking Don Hall made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
