Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximillion Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by Darude - Sandstorm . Butler has chosen Comeback Kid as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maximillion Butler!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butler lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively.
Butler throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.
Silva has a takedown stuffed.

Butler scores with a takedown into Silva's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Butler in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Butler throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Silva escapes and throws Butler's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Butler has managed to free his arm - good work.
Silva is nestled in close to Butler, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Silva lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Butler is pressing down on Silva's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Butler is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well.

That was a close round but I would say that Carlos Silva will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Butler throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Butler lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Butler throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silva fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Silva regains half guard, as Butler was trying to land strikes.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.
Silva cracks Butler with a solid left hand.

Butler throws an elbow that misses. Silva uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Butler's guard. Nice move by Silva!

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Butler moves out of range as Silva strikes.
Butler throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Silva sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Butler as he jumps to the side.
Butler works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Sloppy strikes from Butler. Those never looked like landing.
Butler takes a jab right on the kisser.

Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Maximillion Butler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Butler saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Butler has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Silva connects with a nice short shot to Butler's temple.

Butler looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Silva has picked Butler up and slammed him! Butler can't keep hold of the triangle and Silva manages to pass to side control!

Silva has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Butler's face.
Maximillion Butler has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Silva wants to control the pace but Butler is squirming around nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Silva, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
