The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chippleworth misses with a left hand
and Mikkelsen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Chippleworth lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Chippleworth looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Mikkelsen tries to bum rush Chippleworth with a series of wild strikes but Chippleworth uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mikkelsen throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mikkelsen shoots in looking for a takedown but Chippleworth manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mikkelsen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Mikkelsen throws a lazy right hand but Chippleworth sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cedric Chippleworth will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Chippleworth rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mikkelsen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mikkelsen is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Chippleworth has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Chippleworth!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mikkelsen is looking for a triangle but Chippleworth pushes his legs off easily.

Mikkelsen has his foot on Chippleworth's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chippleworth works his way back into a safe position though.

Chippleworth got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mikkelsen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chippleworth has managed to get both his arms back between Mikkelsen's legs - danger averted.
