PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vinicius Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Champion Champion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Champion is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by John Cena Entrance Song. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Champion closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gracie's guard.
Gracie throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Champion won't allow Gracie to sweep him here.
Gracie seems keen to control Champion's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is trying to control the position but Champion postures up.

We're going to have a standup here because Vinicius Gracie wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Gracie cracks Champion with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Champion rushes Gracie and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Champion has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gracie is trying to keep an underhook but Champion manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie wants to control but Champion is keeping busy.
Gracie is not content to let Champion control the position.
Champion really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Champion is working away from the top position though.
Gracie is concentrating on defense, preventing Champion from advancing position.
Champion trying to advance position but Gracie counters by regaining guard.
Champion postures up.
Champion is looking to stand up but Gracie won't let him.
Gracie is trying to control the position but Champion postures up.

Vinicius Gracie has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Champion gets a clinch.

Champion pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Champion closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gracie circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Gracie. No joy for Champion on that attempt.
Gracie fails with the takedown.
Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Champion.
Gracie missing with a left hand there. Champion was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gracie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Champion sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gracie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Champion shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vinicius Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Champion closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gracie did well to prevent Champion getting side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gracie slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Champion is fighting to break Gracie's control of his arms but Gracie is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Champion tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
Champion looks winded!
Champion is pushing down on Gracie's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gracie is fighting to maintain full guard but Champion has managed to sneak the leg through.
Champion is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now.
Champion wants to stand up but Gracie manages to regain full guard.

Gracie has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Champion should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gracie has tightened it up now! Champion should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
