PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Soprano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Soprano on that attempt.

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
Soprano manages to get back to half guard.
Soprano is trying to get back to full guard.
Soprano tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Jones has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Soprano regains half guard.
Soprano is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Soprano trying to control from the bottom.
Jones tries to stand but can't do so whilst Soprano controls his leg.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Soprano is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Soprano moves into full guard.

Soprano has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jones is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Soprano.
Soprano is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control.

Jones just content to control the position.
Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Soprano is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
You can see the frustration on Soprano's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jones is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Soprano is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Soprano.

Soprano jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jones is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jones and Soprano has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Soprano is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Soprano decides to stand back up. Soprano steps back and let's Jones get back to his feet.

Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Jones pulls Soprano in to control the position.
Soprano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Soprano is looking to stand up but Jones won't let him.

Soprano with a flurry of punches that miss.
Soprano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Soprano wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones wants to sweep but no luck.
Soprano trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soprano wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Soprano showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Soprano postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jones is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Soprano, into his guard.

Soprano has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Soprano wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.
Soprano manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Soprano is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Soprano!
