Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between JJ Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cage Nichols (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Johnston might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Shackler's Revenge - Guns N Roses. On his way into the cage it seems that JJ Johnston has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily JJ Johnston seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cage Nichols!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnston is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nichols tries to clinch there but Johnston circles away.
Johnston tries for a takedown but Nichols circles away easily
and Nichols connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cage Nichols seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nichols lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like JJ Johnston has been cut.
Nichols avoids the head kick by Johnston.
Sloppy strikes from Nichols. Those never looked like landing.
Nichols throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Johnston throws a sloppy head kick and Nichols moves out of range easily.

and Nichols counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Nichols lands with a nice body punch.
Nichols lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Johnston backs up against the cage.
Nichols throws a hook to the side of Johnston's head but Johnston sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Johnston uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nichols.

The fighters circling - Nichols throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nichols shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnston tries to sprawl out of it but Nichols keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnston manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nichols throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Johnston.
Nichols takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Johnston dives in and scores a takedown into Nichols's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Nichols is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nichols wants to work for an arm triangle but Johnston is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Johnston wants to control but Nichols is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Nichols shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnston but Johnston pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cage Nichols seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Johnston shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nichols pinned against the cage. Nichols gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Johnston sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nichols's guard.

Johnston is staying tight to Nichols's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Nichols can't do much from the bottom here.
Nichols throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Nichols rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnston moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nichols looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnston is fending him off so far but Nichols persists. Nope, Johnston circles away and we're back to standing.

Cage Nichols comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Nichols has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
