Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Holt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Hirons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Holt might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Shipping Up To Boston - Dropkick Murphys. Sam Hirons has the eye of the tiger tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hirons misses with a few strikes there.
Hirons looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A combination from Hirons does no damage.
Holt dodges the punch combination from Hirons.
Holt looks for a takedown but Hirons sprawls well.
Holt showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hirons.
Hirons throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Holt moves into range and clinches up with Hirons.
Holt stalls.
Hirons can't break the clinch.
Hirons can't break the clinch.
Hirons prevents a takedown attempt there.
Holt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hirons is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Holt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hirons breaks the clinch.
Holt dodges the punch combination from Hirons.

Holt darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Holt drops an elbow to the side of Hirons's head.
Hirons is trying to get back to full guard.

Holt prevents Hirons from standing back up.

Hirons has hold of Holt's hands but Holt slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Holt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Holt uses his free foot to push down on Hirons's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hirons.

Holt looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Hirons is in a horrible position here. Holt smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Holt stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
No joy there for Hirons, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hirons misses with the combination.

Holt rushes Hirons and presses him up against the cage.

Holt wants the takedown. Hirons is fighting it off but Holt persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hirons's guard against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hirons wants to stand up but Holt is controlling him.
Hirons can't keep his opponent in guard - Holt advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Holt is trying to work for a kimura but Hirons is defending well.

Hirons is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Holt has latched onto it... Big trouble! Holt pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Hirons is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Holt!
