Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pint Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chavo Chavelito!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavelito shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Oooooh!!! Johnson has knocked Chavelito down with a huge combo! Johnson steps away and waves a wobbly Chavelito back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


It looks like Chavo Chavelito has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson fails to land with a series of punches.

Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Chavelito is trying to stand.
Johnson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Chavelito is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chavelito is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.
Johnson tries to stand and escape but Chavelito actually recovers to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson wanted to stand there but Chavelito had control of the position.

Chavelito wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Pint Johnson just wasn't active enough.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Johnson looks to land a combination but Chavelito avoids it well.
No luck for Chavelito with that takedown attempt.

Chavelito shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnson sprawls well. He's pushed Chavelito's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Pint Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chavo Chavelito.
Johnson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Chavelito on that attempt.

Johnson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Johnson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Chavelito misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Chavelito has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Johnson finds it's way round the side to connect with Chavelito's head.
Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Chavelito closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Chavelito pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Chavelito throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Chavelito counters with a body kick that stops Johnson in his tracks momentarily.
Johnson moves in looking to clinch but Chavelito pushes him off.

Chavelito drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Johnson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Chavelito tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Johnson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Pint Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chavo Chavelito.

Chavelito stands and throws Johnson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ground and pound from Chavelito seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Johnson looks to move to half guard but instead Chavelito has passed into mount! Damn!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chavelito trying to control but Johnson is having none of it.
Johnson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Chavelito.
Johnson tries to reverse the position but Chavelito maintains control.

Chavelito raining down hammerfists from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chavelito lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chavelito on the ground.
Chavelito can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.

Chavelito jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Johnson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Johnson and Chavelito has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Johnson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johnson tries to get out of the position.

Chavelito wants to control for a moment but Johnson uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Chavelito is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pint Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Johnson is trying to control but Chavelito passes into side control!

Chavo Chavelito showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chavelito.
Johnson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Chavelito.
Johnson fails to land with a series of punches.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chavelito is on top in guard.

Johnson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Johnson counters with a three punch combo that has Chavelito backing up. Chavelito nods at Johnson to acknowledge the strikes.

Chavelito shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Chavelito looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chavelito looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Chavelito shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Chavelito keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnson tries to clinch up but Chavelito circles away and keeps his distance.

Pint Johnson is winning the standup battle so far.
Chavelito slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.
Chavelito is trying desperately to land a takedown but Johnson is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Chavelito.
Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pint Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chavelito as he jumps to the side.

Chavelito has managed to clinch.
Chavelito is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Johnson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Chavelito pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Pint Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sloppy strikes from Johnson. Those never looked like landing.
Chavelito shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Chavelito's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Chavo Chavelito.
I think Chavelito has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
