Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Charles Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Vogelpohl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cooper comes to the cage accompanied by s.mouse - slap my elbow. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Chuck Vogelpohl enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Charles Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chuck Vogelpohl!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vogelpohl waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Cooper.
Vogelpohl throws a jab but it's blocked by Cooper.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Cooper.
Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vogelpohl paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vogelpohl misses the shot to the body.
Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch but Vogelpohl swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Vogelpohl connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cooper. Cooper circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Cooper throws a head kick but Vogelpohl moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Vogelpohl.
Cooper slips a jab from Vogelpohl.

Vogelpohl shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cooper napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Cooper is looking to reverse the position.
Vogelpohl throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Vogelpohl tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cooper's legs.
Cooper is looking for a sweep.
Vogelpohl has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Vogelpohl wants to take a breather but Cooper manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Vogelpohl.

Vogelpohl is looking to pass into half guard but Cooper pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cooper is in guard.

Cooper postures up.
Vogelpohl bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cooper's guard.
Vogelpohl throwing strikes but missing.
Cooper is looking to stand up but Vogelpohl isn't so interested in that idea.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cooper keeping moving, preventing Vogelpohl from controlling successfully.
Vogelpohl postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Cooper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vogelpohl is one step ahead there.

Cooper is working hard here to advance position.
Cooper looking to control but Vogelpohl passes into half guard.
Vogelpohl is pressing down on Cooper's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cooper is holding on for now.
Cooper is looking to improve his position.
Vogelpohl wants to pass the guard but Cooper is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cooper is trying to escape back to his feet but Vogelpohl uses the scramble to pass into side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vogelpohl goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cooper rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Vogelpohl's guard! Nice work there by Cooper!

Vogelpohl escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cooper gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Vogelpohl dominated that round.
That's time! Cooper's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cooper blocks a low kick nicely.
Cooper closes the distance looking to clinch

and Vogelpohl counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Vogelpohl is keen to just control but Cooper is a slippery customer.
Vogelpohl lands strikes from half guard.
Vogelpohl passes to full mount!
Cooper keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The referee warns Cooper that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vogelpohl trying to control but Cooper is having none of it.

Vogelpohl fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Cooper avoids a series of strikes thrown by Vogelpohl.
Vogelpohl punching from mount but Cooper doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Cooper can't escape the position.

Vogelpohl working for a guillotine from mount but Cooper is in no mood to give up.
Vogelpohl lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Cooper holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Vogelpohl tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
BOOM! Vogelpohl connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vogelpohl misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Cooper is wriggling around trying to escape.

Vogelpohl goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Cooper is on top in guard.
Vogelpohl is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vogelpohl is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Vogelpohl is looking for a triangle here but Cooper uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Vogelpohl tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cooper wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Vogelpohl sneaks back into half guard.
Vogelpohl gets full guard.

Vogelpohl is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cooper is aware though and is defending well.
Cooper wants to stand but Vogelpohl has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Vogelpohl wants to sweep but no luck.

Vogelpohl has his foot on Cooper's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cooper works his way back into a safe position though.
Vogelpohl wants to sweep here but Cooper controlling him for the moment.
Vogelpohl is trying to keep Cooper in close.

Cooper slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Vogelpohl looking for subs off his back but Cooper has passed one foot through into half guard.
Cooper looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Vogelpohl gets back to full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vogelpohl manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cooper manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Vogelpohl showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Vogelpohl feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Coopers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
A looping hook to the body misses from Vogelpohl. Cooper does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cooper will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Cooper tries to clinch but Vogelpohl moves away
and Vogelpohl counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Vogelpohl circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vogelpohl thows a body shot but no joy.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Vogelpohl.
Cooper wants to clinch

Vogelpohl is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cooper has escaped the position, nice work there.

Vogelpohl is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cooper is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cooper is trying to buck Vogelpohl off.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Vogelpohl goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cooper has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Vogelpohl but great work by Cooper.
Vogelpohl manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Cooper is in trouble now - Vogelpohl has advanced to mount!
Vogelpohl misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Cooper tries to reverse the position but Vogelpohl maintains control.
Vogelpohl postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cooper looks a forlorn figure.

Vogelpohl is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Cooper is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Cooper flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Vogelpohl anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Cooper and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Vogelpohl slips an arm under Cooper chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Vogelpohl has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Vogelpohl is squeezing on Cooper like an anaconda would it's prey. Cooper fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chuck Vogelpohl!
