Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cassius Boran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trapp Deathgrip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cassius Boran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trapp Deathgrip!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boran waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Deathgrip.
Sloppy strikes from Deathgrip. Those never looked like landing.
Boran misses with a wild combination.
Deathgrip swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The fighters circling - Deathgrip throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Deathgrip slips a jab and a cross from Boran.

Deathgrip gets caught flat footed, as Boran shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Deathgrip looking for a sweep. Not yet Deathgrip, not yet.
Deathgrip looking to control.
Deathgrip keeping moving, preventing Boran from controlling successfully.

Deathgrip had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Boran defends it easily.

Boran thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Boran sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Deathgrip's guard.
Boran moves into full mount! Deathgrip won't be happy about that!

Boran takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Boran avoids the attempt from Deathgrip to control.
Deathgrip tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Deathgrip tries to lock up and control but Boran gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Deathgrip is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Boran is staying active.
Deathgrip is squirming around, avoiding Boran's attempts to control the action.

Boran with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Boran can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Deathgrip is looking to escape.

Boran takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Deathgrip is controlling an arm, preventing Boran from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Deathgrip decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Deathgrip is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boran moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Deathgrip is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Boran is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Boran has escaped and now he's on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Boran lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Deathgrip circles away quickly and effectively.
Boran thows a leg kick but Deathgrip checks it
and Deathgrip counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Deathgrip decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Deathgrip moves into full mount! Boran won't be happy about that!

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deathgrip lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Boran is looking to improve his position but Deathgrip isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cassius Boran overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Deathgrip is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Boran doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Deathgrip.

Deathgrip wants to control but Boran is keeping him busy.

Boran is working hard here to advance position.

Deathgrip is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Boran defends it well.

Deathgrip looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Boran is refusing to be controlled, as Deathgrip sits in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Boran is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Deathgrip pulls his head out easily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Deathgrip connects with a nice short shot to Boran's temple.

Boran is pressing down on Deathgrip's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Boran is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Deathgrip is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Boran has his foot on Deathgrip's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Deathgrip works his way back into a safe position though.
Deathgrip postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Boran will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Boran escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Deathgrip gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Boran is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Trapp Deathgrip showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Deathgrip feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Deathgrip drops back, looking for a kneebar! Boran looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Boran looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Boran!

Boran is looking to take a break and control but Deathgrip is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Boran wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Deathgrip, who protects the arm well.

Boran is trying to control the action in half guard but Deathgrip is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Deathgrip won't allow Boran to pass to mount.
Boran works his way into side control.
Deathgrip manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Boran looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Deathgrip is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Boran is trying to control the action in half guard but Deathgrip is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Boran is trying to stick to Deathgrip's back but Deathgrip is turning into Boran. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Boran's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Deathgrip.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boran working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Deathgrip doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Deathgrip manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Deathgrip stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boran swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Deathgrip accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

I would just about give that final round to Trapp Deathgrip.
Well Deathgrip has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
