PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Matlock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javed Iqbal Mughal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Mughal throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Matlock throws a looping overhand right but Mughal ducks down to avoid it.
Matlock moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Matlock throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Matlock clobbers Mughal with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mughal tries to move into range but Matlock moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Mughal pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Mughal steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Matlock.
Mughal looks to score with a jab to the body but Matlock is just out of range.
Mughal throws a right hand that Matlock ducks under and follows up with a left that Matlock also avoids with ease.
Matlock throws an overhand right that lands on Mughal's shoulder, as Mughal tries to avoid the shot.
Mughal slips a jab from Matlock.
Mughal misses with an uppercut. Matlock saw that one coming.
Matlock uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mughal.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Matlock misses with a low kick.
Matlock moves out of range as Mughal strikes.
Matlock lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mughal throws a jab but it's blocked by Matlock.
Matlock scores with a body shot.
Mughal walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Matlock moves away from the strike by Mughal.
Matlock connects with a single shot there.
Matlock blocks a jab.
Matlock scores with a crisp jab that stopped Mughal in his tracks.
Matlock is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Matlock misses with a low kick as Mughal jumps back.
Mughal misses with a looping left.
Mughal with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Matlock to score with a decent uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mughal rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Matlock counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Matlock drops Mughal with a beautiful combination! Mughal stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Matlock is looking for the KO!

Mughal is rocked!
Mughal bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Matlock's head backwards.
Mughal is still on wobbly legs! Can Matlock finish him?
Mughal gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Mughal tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Matlock is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Mughal buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Mughal!! Mughal is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Matlock throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
