PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Balaur Bondoc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alpha Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bondoc comes to the cage accompanied by Vica Versa. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Balaur Bondoc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alpha Dog!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dog shoots in and drives through. Bondoc sprawls well.
Dog tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bondoc swivels and escapes.
Bondoc throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dog shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bondoc sprawls well. Bondoc wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dog gets slowly back to his feet.
Balaur Bondoc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alpha Dog.
A head kick misses from Bondoc.
Dog fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dog shoots in looking for a takedown. Bondoc tries to sprawl out of it but Dog keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bondoc manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bondoc misses with a jab, cross combination.

Dog looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dog seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bondoc does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bondoc wants to get back to his feet.
Bondoc on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bondoc tries to get out of the position.

Dog thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bondoc's head.
Bondoc knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dog on the ground.

Dog is working for a kimura but Bondoc is defending it quite comfortably.

Dog is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dog breaks from Bondoc's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Dog pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Dog fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Dog wants to control but Bondoc is keeping him busy.

Bondoc on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bondoc is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dog asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Bondoc is looking to reverse the position.

Dog has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Bondoc is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Dog yanks on the arm and Bondoc is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Dog.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Alpha Dog!
