Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aron Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bogey James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aron Chan has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aron Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bogey James!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James fails to land the takedown.
Chan stuffs the takedown.
James misses with a few strikes there.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Chan checks a leg kick.
James fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chan avoids it really well and circles away.
Aron Chan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bogey James.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Chan sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Chan lands with a slapping head kick.

Chan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chan showed some decent athleticism there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily.

Chan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Aron Chan.

James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chan prevents any damage by holding on tight.

Chan wants to hold on but James pushes him away.
Chan manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Chan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Chan lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for James!

Chan throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Chan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Chan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A head kick misses from Chan.
James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chan's waist but Chan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
Chan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as James sprawls well. James wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chan gets slowly back to his feet.

and Chan counters with a two punch combo.
Chan dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on James. That did some damage!

Chan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

James shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chan pinned against the cage. Chan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

James leaves Chan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Chan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. James gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Aron Chan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Chan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Chan is looking for a triangle but James pushes his legs off easily.

Chan manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Chan ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Some wild striking there from James.
James tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten James somewhat.

Chan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. James was covering up waiting for the punch and Chan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aron Chan wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Chan pushes James up against the cage in a clinch.

James jumps guard but Chan stands there with James around his waist. James gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Chan gets control of James's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chan will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Chan holds on and takes a little breather.

James throws a big right hand that misses.
James stops Chan from standing up.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bogey James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Aron Chan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Chan wants to control but James is keeping busy.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aron Chan.
Well Chan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
