The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Congo ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Congo wants to clinch.

Congo has closed the distance and engaged Hopo in a clinch.
Congo misses with an elbow over the top.
Hopo wants to take the fight to the mat but Congo manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Congo lands a good knee to the midsection. Hopo won't want to take too many of those.

Congo looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Hopo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Congo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hopo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ghengis Congo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hessu Hopo.
Congo tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hopo - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Hopo drops down looking for an ankle pick but Congo pulls his leg out and moves away.

Congo misses with an uppercut

and Hopo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Congo's guard now.
Congo trying to keep a closed guard but Hopo is proving a slippery customer.
Hopo postures up in Congo's guard and throws a big left but Congo blocks it.
Hopo won't allow Congo to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hopo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Congo swings for the body but Hopo moves out of range.

Hessu Hopo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That has opened up Hessu Hopo's cut even more.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hopo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Congo.
Hopo closes the distance and clinches up with Congo, looking for a takedown. Hopo pushes Congo against the cage but Congo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Congo avoids the body shot from Hopo.
Hopo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Congo connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hopo scrambles back to his feet.
Hopo is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Congo doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Hopo crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Hopo's bad books for that mishap!
