Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leo McGarry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Donghae (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGarry's entrance music is Welcome to the Machine. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leo McGarry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lee Donghae!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGarry throws a looping overhand right but Donghae ducks down to avoid it.
Donghae throws a poor cross that misses

and McGarry counters by moving into the clinch.
McGarry lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Donghae looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Donghae wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
McGarry prevents Donghae from breaking the clinch.

McGarry breaks the clinch.
McGarry throws a leg kick but Donghae sees it coming and moves out of range.
McGarry slips a straight right by Donghae.
Donghae keeps the fight on the outside.
McGarry fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Donghae checks it well.
Donghae avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

McGarry tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Donghae manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Donghae throws a lazy right hand but McGarry sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

McGarry gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Donghae tries to circle away but McGarry has him pinned against the cage.

Donghae has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
McGarry gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
McGarry digs a right hand underneath Donghae's ribcage. Donghae let out a lung full of air as it connected.
A right handed body shot lands from McGarry.
McGarry lands with a short shot to the head.
A nice glancing elbow lands by McGarry.
McGarry lands an elbow that stopped Donghae in his tracks for a moment.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGarry is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Donghae pulls him back up using the underhooks.

McGarry is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

McGarry is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Donghae doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McGarry.

McGarry is trying to work for a kimura but Donghae is defending well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McGarry connects with a nice short shot to Donghae's temple.

McGarry not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Donghae wants to control but McGarry is keeping busy.
McGarry missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Donghae is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McGarry scores with a couple of nice shots.
McGarry thows a huge punch but Donghae dodges it nicely.
McGarry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
McGarry slips a nice elbow through Donghae's hands, connecting with Donghae's forehead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGarry throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
McGarry looks to land a strike but Donghae avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Donghae uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McGarry.

Donghae's corner calls for a 1-2. Donghae obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

McGarry moves into range and clinches up with Donghae.
McGarry misses with an elbow strike.
McGarry creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Donghae's defenses.
McGarry is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Donghae's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Donghae wants to break the clinch but can't.
McGarry blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
McGarry is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Donghae is defending well.

McGarry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McGarry fails in his attempt to clinch.

Donghae gets tackled into the cage by McGarry. McGarry maintains the clinch.

McGarry gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Donghae regains guard.

Donghae wants to get back to his feet but McGarry is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
McGarry postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGarry stands up over Donghae, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

McGarry postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Donghae is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McGarry, into his guard.
McGarry has a closed guard, preventing Donghae from standing up.

Donghae avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

McGarry isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Donghae stacks McGarry on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Donghae!

McGarry looks to move to half guard but instead Donghae has passed into mount! Damn!
Donghae is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
McGarry is trying to escape the mount.
Donghae is looking to stand but Donghae has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Leo McGarry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McGarry is desperately trying to improve his position but Donghae has a good base and remains in mount.

McGarry manages to regain half guard. Good work.
McGarry tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Donghae is working for an americana but McGarry has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Donghae was thinking about the submission.
Donghae must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGarry is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Donghae's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Donghae's back!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


McGarry lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The fighters circling - Donghae throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
McGarry works the jab nicely.
Donghae is on the wrong end of a nice combination from McGarry.
McGarry misses with a few strikes there.
Donghae keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McGarry shoots in for a double leg but Donghae sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
McGarry is looking to clinch but Donghae is avoiding it.

McGarry decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McGarry throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
McGarry landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

McGarry is looking for a kimura but Donghae is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McGarry to get the leverage.

McGarry has his foot on Donghae's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Donghae works his way back into a safe position though.
McGarry doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Donghae wants to stand but McGarry has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Donghae tries to free his leg and advance position but McGarry is retaining full guard.
Donghae has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McGarry is proving hard to escape from.

McGarry throws his legs up looking for a submission but Donghae uses it to pass to side control.
Lee Donghae has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

McGarry looking for a sweep but Donghae has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Donghae lands a nice shot to the head.
McGarry sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
McGarry is looking for a sweep. Donghae is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGarry flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGarry throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Donghae manages to pass to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Leo McGarry showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McGarry has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
