The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villa moves out of range of the body kick from Laine.

Laine throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Villa shoots in looking for a takedown but Laine manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Villa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Laine tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Villa was well out of range. Poor timing from Laine.
Laine throws a body punch but Villa moves out of range.
Villa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Villa lands in his opponent's guard.

Villa throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Laine works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Villa stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Villa throws a hook but Laine avoids it easily.
Laine misses the jab.
Laine walks into a straight right hand from Villa.
Laine tries to work over Villa's front leg with a kick but Villa checks it.

and Villa counters with a solid body kick.

Laine throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Villa stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Laine cracks Villa with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Laine chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Villa can pounce on him.

and Villa counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Villa counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Villa looks to land a right hand but Laine moved out of range.
Villa is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Laine leaves Villa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Villa counters with a left and a right that stings Laine.
Laine stalks Villa and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Villa's face. Villa staggers backwards, shaken.

and Villa counters with a body kick that stops Laine in his tracks momentarily.
Villa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Villa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Laine was covering up waiting for the punch and Villa finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Well, if Villa is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Poncho Villa.
I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
