PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Fortin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan Fortin had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fortin looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Martin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Martin slips a nice elbow through Fortin's hands, connecting with Fortin's forehead.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Fortin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Martin tries to avoid it but Fortin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Martin to the ground. Martin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Martin clinches up with Fortin and pushes him back against the cage.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fortin connects with a nice short shot to Martin's temple.

Fortin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Martin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fortin.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Fortin is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Martin defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Fortin is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Martin knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Martin for a finish.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ryan Fortin will probably get the nod.
