The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tangcalagan has taken the fight to the clinch.
Romero looking to throw knees to the head but Tangcalagan is blocking nicely.

Romero throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Tangcalagan breaks from the clinch.
Romero tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tangcalagan swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Tangcalagan is trying to trip Romero. He has hold of a leg but Romero is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Tangcalagan persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Romero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tangcalagan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Tangcalagan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Romero escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tangcalagan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Romero isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tangcalagan stacks Romero on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tangcalagan!
