PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wladimir Knockoutski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Top Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wladimir Knockoutski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Top Turk!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turk moves into the clinch successfully.
Turk is pressed up against the cage. Knockoutski has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Turk down to the mat. Turk avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Turk clinches with his opponent.
Turk lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Turk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Turk misses with a takedown attempt

and Knockoutski decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Turk's guard.
Turk being controlled here, momentarily.
Turk will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Turk can do anything to dispel that myth.
Knockoutski pushes down on Turk's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Turk pushes Knockoutski off and gets back to his feet.

Turk moves into range and clinches up with Knockoutski.
Knockoutski takes a knee to the side of the body.
Turk unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Turk misses with a knee strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Turk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Top Turk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Knockoutski shoots in looking for a takedown. Turk tries to sprawl out of it but Knockoutski keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Turk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Turk moves into range and clinches up with Knockoutski.
Knockoutski drops down looking for an ankle pick but Turk pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wladimir Knockoutski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Turk looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Horrible takedown by Turk or perhaps it was just good defense by Knockoutski which made him look bad.

Turk shoots in but no luck this time.
Turk tries to close the distance and clinch up but Knockoutski swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Knockoutski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Turk tries to avoid it but Knockoutski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Turk to the ground. Turk escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Turk rushes Knockoutski and presses him up against the cage.
Turk tries to land knees in the clinch but Knockoutski avoids the damage to the body.

Turk jumps guard and drags Knockoutski to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Knockoutski stays in close to Turk's body and controls the position.
Knockoutski pushes down on Turk's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Knockoutski wants to control but Turk is keeping him busy.
Turk wants to get back to his feet.
Knockoutski looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wladimir Knockoutski.
Turk tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Knockoutski manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Turk throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Knockoutski counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Knockoutski is pushing down on Turk's leg trying to pass to half guard. Turk is fighting to maintain full guard but Knockoutski has managed to sneak the leg through.
Knockoutski wants to control but Turk is keeping him busy.
Turk misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Turk wants to get back to his feet.
Knockoutski works his way into full mount!
Knockoutski looking to control and managing it successfully.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Knockoutski is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Turk is in real trouble.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Wladimir Knockoutski will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Turk closes the distance and clinches.
The referee is keeping an eye on Turk - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Knockoutski blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Turk fails to pull guard.
Turk tries to land a knee to the head but Knockoutski blocks with his arms.
Turk is pressed up against the cage. Knockoutski has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Turk down to the mat. Turk avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Turk looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Knockoutski is fending him off so far but Turk persists. Nope, Knockoutski circles away and we're back to standing.

Turk is looking to clinch but Knockoutski is avoiding it.
Knockoutski shoots in looking for a takedown but Turk manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Knockoutski's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Turk tries to close the distance and clinch but Knockoutski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Turk shoots in but Knockoutski avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wladimir Knockoutski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Top Turk.

Turk is breathing heavily.

Turk clinches up with Knockoutski and pushes him back against the cage.

and Knockoutski decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Turk's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Turk is trying to stand up here but Knockoutski is controlling him well.
Knockoutski perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Knockoutski is pressing down on Turk's thigh, looking to free his foot. Turk is holding on for now.

Knockoutski's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Knockoutski seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Turk for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Wladimir Knockoutski wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Turk throws a right and a left that Knockoutski avoids nicely.

Turk gets caught napping as Knockoutski dives in and scores a takedown. Turk manages to retain guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wladimir Knockoutski.
Turk throws a sloppy head kick and Knockoutski moves out of range easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Knockoutski is defended easily by Turk.
Turk tries to close the distance and clinch up but Knockoutski swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Turk shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Knockoutski pinned against the cage. Knockoutski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Turk is looking to stand up but Knockoutski isn't so interested in that idea.
Knockoutski is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Knockoutski sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Turk's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Top Turk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Knockoutski has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
