PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Murpy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carter Pewterschmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murpy comes to the cage accompanied by Victory. Pewterschmidt has chosen 7 Words as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Murpy!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carter Pewterschmidt!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pewterschmidt uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Murpy.
Murpy keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Murpy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Murpy tries to move to full mount but Pewterschmidt actually manages to regain half guard.

Murpy goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pewterschmidt turns into him and now he's in Murpy's guard.

Murpy has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pewterschmidt is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Murpy.

Pewterschmidt remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
