PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rolf Spicer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Ranes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ranes comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Roy Jones Jr. - Cant be touched kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rolf Spicer has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rolf Spicer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Ranes!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ranes shoots in but no luck this time.
Ranes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Spicer misses with a body kick.
Horrible takedown by Ranes or perhaps it was just good defense by Spicer which made him look bad.
Rolf Spicer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Ranes.
Left hook, right uppercut from Spicer.
Spicer stalks Ranes and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ranes's face. Ranes staggers backwards, shaken.
Spicer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ranes.
Spicer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ranes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ranes slips a jab and a cross from Spicer.

Ranes misses with a takedown attempt - Spicer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Spicer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ranes sprawls well initially but Spicer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Spicer is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ranes is looking to get back to full guard here but Spicer has managed to pass to side control instead.
Ranes can't escape the position.

Spicer is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Ranes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Spicer counters with a left and a right that stings Ranes.
Ranes takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Ranes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Spicer circles away.

Ranes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ranes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Spicer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Spicer's back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Spicer trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Ranes is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Spicer. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Ranes is striking well from the back but Spicer escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.

Ranes tries to free his leg and advance position but Spicer is retaining full guard.
Ranes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Spicer's head.
Ranes distracts Spicer with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ranes feints and as Spicer raises his hands in defense, Ranes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ranes passes Spicer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spicer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ranes's guard.

Ryan Ranes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Ranes shoots in for a double leg but Spicer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ranes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rolf Spicer.
I think Spicer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
