PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ah Puch Nacon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Nacon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Death. Randy West will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West lands a right hook to the body.
Nacon throws a chopping leg kick but West manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
West lands with a thumping leg kick.
West throws a front kick aimed at Nacon's knee but Nacon avoids it well.
West throws a shot to the body.
West throws a shot from downtown. Nacon moves away and avoids it.
An inside leg kick lands from West.
Nacon goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Nacon chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before West can pounce on him.
West pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
West lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nacon at a distance.

West lands a leg kick that knocks Nacon off balance momentarily.

Randy West is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
West motions for Nacon to come forward. West throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Nacon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. West defends it nicely.

West slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from West. Nacon does a little dance to reset his feet.

Nacon manages to get an easy takedown there - catching West on his heels. He'll look to pass West's guard now, I'm sure.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Nacon wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

West must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

West avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

West has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
A head kick misses from Nacon.
West attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
West uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Nacon has time to react.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nacon on the side of the head.

Nacon pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
West throws a leg kick which misses Nacon's front leg but catches the back leg as Nacon tries to avoid it.

Nacon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but West avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ah Puch Nacon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nacon has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from West finds it's way round the side to connect with Nacon's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

West throws a low kick, looking for Nacon's leg but Nacon calmly moves out of range.
West jabs Nacon right on the nose. Nacon blinks but takes it well.

West cracks Nacon with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Nacon on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Nacon is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Nacon shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nacon throws an overhand right that lands on West's shoulder, as West tries to avoid the shot.
Nacon has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nacon there as he acknowledges the shot.

Nacon is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nacon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ah Puch Nacon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nacon shoots for a double leg takedown but West sprawls well. He's pushed Nacon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Nacon looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nacon looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
West's corner calls for a 1-2. West obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That kick from West tenderised Nacon's leg. Nacon is trying to keep his angry face on.

Randy West showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
