PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Florian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dominick Cruz had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 147.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws a right hand that Florian ducks under and follows up with a left that Florian also avoids with ease.
Florian misses with a body kick.
Florian throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Florian takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Cruz turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Cruz throws a head kick but Florian moves out of range.
A nice combination there by Florian.
Cruz throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
A thudding body kick lands there by Cruz!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Florian manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cruz on his heels. He'll look to pass Cruz's guard now, I'm sure.
Florian won't allow Cruz to get back to his feet.
Florian wants to stand and escape but instead Cruz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Florian lands with a nice body kick.
Florian shoots in looking for a takedown but Cruz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Florian's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Florian throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Cruz lands a leg kick that knocks Florian off balance momentarily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Cruz.
Florian on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Cruz scores with a kick to the midsection.
Florian tries for a takedown but Cruz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cruz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Florian's calf.
Florian takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Cruz pushes Florian away with a front kick.
Cruz plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
That kick from Cruz tenderised Florian's leg. Florian is trying to keep his angry face on.
Cruz fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Florian has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Cruz lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Cruz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Florian.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cruz, right into the meat.
Cruz moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Cruz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cruz lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Dominick Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Florian takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Florian moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Cruz lands a brutal head kick. Florian looks out on his feet and Cruz throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
