Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bruens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pvt. Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palmer. Bruens comes to the cage accompanied by River Below. Pvt. Palmer will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Bruens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pvt. Palmer!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer cracks Bruens with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Bruens misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Palmer.
Bruens comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Palmer - that will leave a mark!
A head kick misses from Palmer.
Palmer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bruens dives in and grabs Palmer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Palmer pushes down on Bruens's head and hops out.
Palmer looks to land a combination. Bruens sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Palmer misses with a low kick.
Bruens throws a leg kick that misses.

Bruens drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Bruens trying to control the position from guard on top but Palmer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Palmer wants to sweep here but Bruens controlling him for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Palmer wants to stand up but Bruens is controlling him.
Bruens might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bruens trying to control but Palmer is working from the bottom.
Palmer has his hands on Bruens's head, controlling the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Pvt. Palmer wasn't active enough on the ground.
Palmer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bruens.

Palmer lands with a nice body kick.
Palmer checks a low kick from Bruens.
Bruens shoots in looking for a takedown. Palmer tries to sprawl out of it but Bruens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Palmer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Bruens. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bruens fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Palmer is out of range.
Palmer connects with a high kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bruens.
Bruens takes one on the button.

Bruens decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Palmer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Bruens is keen to just control but Palmer is a slippery customer.
Bruens is thwarting Palmer's attempts to control the position.
Palmer wants to improve his position but Bruens is controlling well.

Bruens is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Palmer has managed to free his arm - good work.

Bruens is looking to take a break and control but Palmer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bruens throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Palmer is controlling Bruens's trapped leg to prevent Bruens from advancing to side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bruens performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Bruens dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bruens fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Palmer manages to avoid it.
Palmer takes a swing at Bruens's ribcage but misses.
Bruens changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Palmer tries to avoid it but Bruens manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Palmer to the ground. Palmer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Palmer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bruens blocks a low kick nicely.
Palmer lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Palmer.
Palmer walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bruens checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Good work by Palmer as he checks the leg kick.
Palmer misses with a low kick.
Bruens avoids the head kick by Palmer.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bruens scores with a shot to the body.
Bruens moves out of range as Palmer throws a body kick.
Bruens takes a swing at Palmer's ribcage but misses.
Palmer is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Palmer throws a low kick, looking for Bruens's leg but Bruens calmly moves out of range.
Bruens tries to land a leg kick but Palmer saw it coming and moves away.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Palmer, as that shot connected.
Bruens is looking to wear down Palmer with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Palmer scores with a hook to the body. Bruens takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
A swing and a miss from Palmer.
Palmer throws a front kick aimed at Bruens's knee but Bruens avoids it well.
Palmer looks for the body kick but Bruens saw that one coming.
Bruens swings for the body but Palmer moves out of range.
Bruens checks the leg kick.

Bruens swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Bruens scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Palmer is looking for a sweep.
Bruens slows the pace down.
Palmer is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bruens tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Bruens with the ground and pound but Palmer regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Bruens is taking a breather. Palmer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Palmer regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Bruens.
Bruens won't allow Palmer to sweep him here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bruens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bruens trying to control the position from guard on top but Palmer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bruens postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Palmer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bruens throws a strike but Palmer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Paul Bruens will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Palmer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A slow jab from Palmer misses its intended target.
Pvt. Palmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Palmer goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Bruens throws the kick towards the body but Palmer avoids it.
Bruens throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Palmer looks to land a body kick but Bruens moved away.
Bruens chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Palmer can pounce on him.
A chopping leg kick lands by Palmer.
Bruens throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bruens moves out of range of the body kick.
Palmer blocks a leg kick.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Palmer.
Palmer misses with a two punch combination.
No luck for Bruens with that takedown attempt.
Bruens shoots for a takedown but Palmer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bruens fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Palmer has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Palmer tests Bruens's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Palmer looks to land a body kick but Bruens moved away.
Bruens takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Palmer throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Palmer just misses with a punch to the body.
Pvt. Palmer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Palmer throws a shot from downtown. Bruens moves away and avoids it.
Palmer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Palmer finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Palmer clobbers Bruens with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Pvt. Palmer seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bruens slips a jab from Palmer.
Palmer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Palmer moves out of range as Bruens throws a body kick.
Palmer lands a nice looking body shot.
Palmer drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Palmer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bruens on the side of the head.

Bruens moves out of range of the body kick.
Palmer throws the kick towards the body but Bruens avoids it.

Palmer on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Bruens. Bruens obviously looking to wear him down.
Bruens avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bruens stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Bruens swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bruens throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Bruens takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Palmer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Palmer misses with an attempted mid kick.

and Bruens counters with a nice body shot.

Bruens dives in and scores a takedown into Palmer's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bruens got a little sloppy there for a moment and Palmer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bruens has managed to get both his arms back between Palmer's legs - danger averted.
Bruens passes Palmer's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Palmer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

I would just about give that final round to Pvt. Palmer.
I think Bruens has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
