PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Billy Bobberson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Onni Jokinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Onni Jokinen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Bobberson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Onni Jokinen!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Jokinen.
Jokinen throws a nice outside leg kick.
Jokinen scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Jokinen misses with a wild body shot.
Jokinen avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jokinen lands a nice shot to the body.
Jokinen scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Bobberson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jokinen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bobberson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ground and pound from Bobberson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Jokinen tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bobberson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

An elbow from Bobberson crashes against the mat.

Bobberson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Bobberson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jokinen rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bobberson's guard! Nice work there by Jokinen!
Bobberson being controlled here, momentarily.
Jokinen pushes down on Bobberson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Bobberson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bobberson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bobberson is working hard here to advance position.

Bobberson looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Bobberson wants to improve his position but Jokinen is controlling well.
Jokinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bobberson keeps working.

Jokinen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bobberson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jokinen pulls his head out easily.

Bobberson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jokinen wants to control from the top but Bobberson keeps moving.

Bobberson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jokinen passes into half guard.
Bobberson is in trouble now - Jokinen has advanced to mount!
Bobberson swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Jokinen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bobberson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jokinen with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Jokinen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Onni Jokinen dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jokinen misses with a body shot.
An inside leg kick lands from Jokinen.
Jokinen scores with a kick to the body.
Jokinen looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Bobberson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jokinen as he jumps to the side.
Bobberson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jokinen punishes Bobberson's body with a nice straight punch.
Jokinen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bobberson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
An inside leg kick lands from Jokinen.
Jokinen tries a head kick but it misses.
Jokinen cracks Bobberson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jokinen stalks Bobberson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bobberson's face. Bobberson staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Billy Bobberson has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bobberson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Jokinen moves out of range as Bobberson strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jokinen misses with an attempted mid kick.
Bobberson shoots for a takedown but Jokinen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bobberson scores with a jab to the head.
Jokinen scores with a jab to the jaw.


Bobberson is rocked!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jokinen, right into the meat.
Jokinen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A slapping body kick lands there for Jokinen.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jokinen moves out of range of the strikes.
Bobberson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Oh Bobberson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jokinen lands with a big right hook that stumbles Bobberson - he's out on his feet here! Jokinen follows up with another monster hook that separates Bobberson from consciousness! Bobberson falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Jokinen stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Onni Jokinen!
