PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Foe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taz Devil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Devil has chosen Motorhead-Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Taz Devil will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe Foe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 18 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Taz Devil!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Foe looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Devil keeping moving, preventing Foe from controlling successfully.
Foe prevents Devil from getting back to his feet.
Foe trying to control but Devil is working from the bottom.
Foe wants to get up but he can't break Devil's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Foe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Foe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Joe Foe has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Foe steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Devil.
Devil lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Foe looks to throw a body kick
and Devil makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Foe really felt that one!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Devil lands with a cross.

Devil stuffs the takedown attempt from Foe. Foe gets slowly back to his feet.
Foe keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Foe has taken the fight to the clinch.
Devil gets through Foe's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Foe is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Devil gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Devil lands a shoulder strike.


It looks like Joe Foe has been cut.
Devil lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Devil's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Foe throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Devil cracks Foe with a right hand to the side of the head.
Foe shoots in but Devil avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Foe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Devil circles away from the clinch attempt.
Joe Foe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Devil tries to sprawl but Foe drives through with a takedown into half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Devil wants to get back to his feet.
Foe is looking to take a break and control but Devil is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Foe wants to free his trapped foot but Devil is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Foe takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Devil misses with an attempted mid kick.
Devil lands a nice hook to Foe's body. Foe takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Devil.
Foe throws a head kick but Devil moves out of range.
Foe dives in and grabs Devil's left leg, looking for a takedown. Devil pushes down on Foe's head and hops out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Devil scores with a punch to the head.
Foe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Devil pinned against the cage. Devil gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Devil. Foe does a little dance to reset his feet.
Devil tries a head kick but it misses.
Foe throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Devil makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Foe throws a head kick that misses.
Foe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Devil connects with a solid leg kick.
Foe shoots in looking for a takedown. Devil tries to sprawl out of it but Foe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Devil manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Foe is looking to clinch but Devil is avoiding it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Foe tries to clinch up.
Devil lands with a cross.
Devil connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Devil chopping away at his opponent's legs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Devil throws a front kick that sends Foe stumbling back into the cage.
Devil cracks Foe with a good jab.
Devil has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Devil connects with a body shot that sends Foe's belly button to the back.
Devil pivots, looking for a leg kick but Foe is out of range and Devil settles back down.
Foe stuns Devil with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Devil is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Devil looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Foe tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Devil swivels and escapes.
Foe takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Foe on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taz Devil dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Joe Foe's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Foe blocks a head kick by Devil.
Foe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Devil manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Foe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Devil fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Foe has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Taz Devil seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A jab from Devil misses.
Foe fails in his attempt to clinch.
Foe throws a jab but it's blocked by Devil.
Foe tries to clinch there but Devil circles away.
Devil scores with a kick to the midsection.
Devil is looking to score with low kicks.
Devil lands a nice hook to Foe's body. Foe takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Devil defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Foe.
Devil throws a nice inside leg kick.
Foe fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Foe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A left and a right from Devil both land. Nice combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Foe ducks right into an uppercut from Devil.
Foe fails in his attempt to clinch.
Devil keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Devil scoring well with a low kick there.
Foe throws a sloppy head kick
and Devil counters with a head kick. That will keep Foe thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!


Foe is rocked!
Foe closes the distance and clinches up with Devil, looking for a takedown. Foe pushes Devil against the cage but Devil circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Taz Devil is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Devil throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Devil moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Devil tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Foe throws out a loose jab but Devil uses good head movement to avoid it.
Devil connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Foe on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Oh Foe is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Joe Foe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Devil scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Crunch! Devil slams his shin into Foe's torso.
The fighters circle, before Devil throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Foe's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Devil lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Taz Devil!
A relieved looking Taz Devil thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
