Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Salvatore Gattuso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mac Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salvatore Gattuso had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Jorge Garcia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gattuso tries to clinch but Hansen moves out of range.

Hansen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Hansen wants to stand up but Gattuso is controlling him.
Gattuso postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gattuso throws a strike but Hansen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gattuso has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hansen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hansen wants to pass the guard but Gattuso is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hansen is in close to Gattuso's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hansen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Hansen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gattuso is just riding it out for now. Hansen eventually gives up the hold.
Hansen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hansen connects with a nice short shot to Gattuso's temple.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gattuso is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hansen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hansen's back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hansen misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hansen is looking to take a break and control but Gattuso is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hansen is staying tight to Gattuso's torso, preventing him from escaping.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mac Hansen.

Gattuso fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Hansen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hansen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gattuso as he jumps to the side.
Hansen jabs Gattuso to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Gattuso throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A head kick misses from Gattuso.
Hansen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice shot lands for Hansen.
Gattuso takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mac Hansen seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Hansen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Salvatore Gattuso. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gattuso moves forwards but Hansen connects with a nice, crisp jab.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gattuso drops his hands momentarily. Hansen doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Gattuso staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Gattuso doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
