Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Crews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Ries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Crews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Ries!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crews checks a low kick from Ries.
Ries is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Crews.
Mark Ries seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ries fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Crews is out of range.
Crews checks a leg kick.
Crews avoids the head kick by Ries.

Crews drives through with a takedown into guard.
Crews sitting in guard here, content to control.
Ries wants to stand up but Crews is controlling him.
Crews is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ries trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Crews stands and throws Ries's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ries is being controlled here.
Ries wants to get back to his feet but Crews is dominant here and he's now got Ries's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ries is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Ries is trying to get back to his feet but Crews has full control of the position and if anything, Ries has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Ries is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Crews is landing with strikes. Ries can't take much more of this.

Crews is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Ries has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Crews stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Crews wants it to stay on the feet.
No luck for Ries with that takedown attempt.

and Crews counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Crews not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ries wants to stand up but Crews is controlling him.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Good leg kick by Crews there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Crews clinches up against the cage.
Crews fails to pull guard.

Crews wants the takedown. Ries is fighting it off but Crews persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ries's guard against the cage.
Crews sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Ries not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Johnny Crews has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Crews forces Ries back against the cage and clinches.
Ries prevents a takedown attempt there.

Crews jumps into guard, dragging Ries to the mat.
Ries is looking to work some ground and pound but Crews has wrist control.
Crews has his hands on Ries's head, controlling the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Crews's corner calls for a 1-2. Crews obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ries lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Crews has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Crews and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Crews moves out of range of the strikes.
Ries tries to land a body kick
and Crews counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Crews shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ries is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Crews scores with a couple of nice shots.
Crews is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ries can do to turn this around?
Crews looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Ries takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Crews lands with a punch from half guard.
Still in half guard, Crews seems content to control.
Crews is looking to advance position but Ries won't allow it.
The fighters are battling for position here. Ries manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ries is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Crews decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Crews shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Crews showed some decent athleticism there.

Crews stands up out of the half guard.

Crews drives through and clinches with Ries against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Crews breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Crews throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ries was covering up waiting for the punch and Crews finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Johnny Crews overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Crews working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ries's head.

Crews is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ries wants to stand and escape but Crews is having none of it.
Crews controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Crews decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Ries gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ries is looking to stand up but Crews isn't so interested in that idea.

Crews controlling from the top position.

Crews stands up and waves to Ries to follow him.

Crews drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Crews's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Crews works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Mark Ries has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Johnny Crews is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Crews has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
