PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Bane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Tunjic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bane comes into the arena with Sweet Skunk blues blaring out of the sound system. Tunjic has chosen More then a Feeling as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ivan Tunjic!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tunjic jabs Bane to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Bane misses with the combination.
Tunjic fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bane manages to avoid it.
The fighters circling - Tunjic throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bane feints a jab promting Tunjic to slip. Bane then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Tunjic slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Tunjic moves out of range as Bane throws a body kick.
Tunjic on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Tunjic misses with a wild body shot.
Tunjic lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bane at a distance.
Tunjic lands a lovely overhand right.
Bane scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Bane drops his hands momentarily and Tunjic takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

It looks like Xavier Bane has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bane shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Tunjic counters with a slapping leg kick.

Tunjic thows a body shot but no joy.

Tunjic darts in and clinches Bane up against the cage.

Bane gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tunjic keeps working.

Tunjic is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bane pulls his head out easily.

Tunjic is trying to maintain the position but Bane is very close to passing his half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bane is looking to take a break and control but Tunjic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bane stalling away here and it's allowed Tunjic to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Bane is working Tunjic over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Tunjic tries to free his leg and advance position but Bane is retaining full guard.
Bane wants to stand but Tunjic is controlling the position.

Bane is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tunjic is controlling him.

Tunjic stands and throws Bane's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Tunjic lands some shots froms side control.
Tunjic wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bane keeps working.
Tunjic works to advance to full mount. Bane defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Tunjic postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bane looks a forlorn figure.

Bane is rocked!
Tunjic unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Bane wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Tunjic celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
