Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeb Russell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Friedrich Nietzsche!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nietzsche misses with a leg kick.
Nietzsche is trying hard to land a takedown here. Russell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Russell just misses with a punch to the body.
Nietzsche loads up on a big right hand but Russell slips the punch.
Russell jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nietzsche misses with an uppercut
and Russell counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Nietzsche, right into the meat.
Nietzsche misses with a head kick.
Russell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nietzsche jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Russell throws a series of punches but Nietzsche avoids them all with ease.
Russell throws a series of punches but Nietzsche moves out of range.
Russell tries to clinch but Nietzsche moves out of range.
Nietzsche slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nietzsche fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Russell checks it well.

Russell moves into the clinch.
Nietzsche misses with a punch on the inside.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Russell lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Nietzsche backwards.

Nietzsche lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Nietzsche scores with a shot to the side of Russell's head.
Russell lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Russell tries a knee to the head but Nietzsche blocks it.
Nietzsche lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Russell backwards.
Russell misses with a knee strike.

Russell is fighting off a takedown attempt but Nietzsche is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Russell to the mat. Russell regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Russell can't keep his opponent in guard - Nietzsche advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Nietzsche wants to pass to mount but Russell is defending the position.
Nietzsche is looking to take a break and control but Russell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Russell controlling the position well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nietzsche lands with a punch from half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nietzsche trying to control the action but Russell is working from the bottom.
Russell is trying to get back to full guard.
Nietzsche is pressing down on Russell's thigh, looking to free his foot. Russell is holding on for now.
Russell is not content to let Nietzsche control the position.

Nietzsche wants to work for an arm triangle but Russell is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Russell trying to control but Nietzsche postures up.
Russell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Russell gets back to full guard.

Nietzsche stopping the sweep attempt from Russell.
Nietzsche wants to control from the top but Russell keeps moving.
Russell trying to keep a closed guard but Nietzsche is proving a slippery customer.

Russell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Russell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Russell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Nietzsche trying to control the position from guard on top but Russell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Russell tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Russell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Russell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeb Russell wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Russell throws a nice looking combination but Nietzsche bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Russell avoids a kick to the body.
Nietzsche misses with a looping right.
Nietzsche shoots in looking for a takedown. Russell tries to sprawl out of it but Nietzsche keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Russell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Russell fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Nietzsche.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Friedrich Nietzsche will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Russell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Nietzsche makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Nietzsche has Russell up against the cage in a clinch.
Nietzsche has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Russell avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Russell with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Russell scores with a hook to the body.
Russell tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Nietzsche swings wildly with an uppercut but Russell uses good head movement to avoid it.
Nietzsche is trying to force a seperation but Russell has the dominant position.
Nietzsche misses with a hook to the ribs.
Russell throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Nietzsche blocks it with crossed arms.
Nietzsche misses with the head strike.
Russell tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Nietzsche's elbow.
Nietzsche misses with a hook from the clinch.
Nietzsche is trying to push Russell away but Russell has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Nietzsche lands a left hand that snaps the head of Russell backwards.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nietzsche breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Russell lands with a good body shot.
Russell getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Russell blocks a head kick by Nietzsche.
Russell connects with a body shot.
Russell lands with a shot to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Russell.
Russell wants to control but Nietzsche is keeping him busy.

Russell has hold of Nietzsche's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Nietzsche tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Russell cranks the arm and Nietzsche screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Nietzsche, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
