The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jarvinen drives through and clinches with Melendez against the cage.
Melendez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Melendez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jarvinen walks away with a smile on his face. Melendez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Melendez shoots in looking for a takedown but Jarvinen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Melendez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Jarvinen here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

The cut above Damien Melendez's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Melendez drops his hands momentarily. Jarvinen doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Melendez staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Melendez doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
