PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Dubois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vincent Dubois!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antonio Belfort!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dubois shoots in but no luck this time.
Belfort lands with a kick to the temple. Dubois shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Dubois leaves Belfort with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Belfort is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Belfort wants to clinch.
Dubois keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Belfort.
Vincent Dubois has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Belfort.

Belfort lands a nice leg kick that just misses Dubois's sensitive parts.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Belfort holds on and takes a little breather.

Belfort has his foot on Dubois's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dubois works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Horrible takedown by Dubois or perhaps it was just good defense by Belfort which made him look bad.
Belfort fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Belfort has closed the distance and engaged Dubois in a clinch.

Belfort changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dubois tries to avoid it but Belfort manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dubois to the ground. Dubois escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Dubois jumps guard but Belfort stands there with Dubois around his waist. Dubois gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Antonio Belfort showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Belfort postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Belfort tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Dubois gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Belfort controlling the position easily from mount.
Belfort throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Dubois because Belfort loaded up on that one.

And that's the end of the fight!
Antonio Belfort comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Belfort has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Antonio Belfort misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
