PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ultimate Warrior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warrior comes into the arena with Ultimate Warrior Entrance blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ultimate Warrior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chuck Liddel!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddel wants to slow Warrior down by chopping away at his legs.
Warrior tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Liddel tries for a takedown but Warrior circles away easily

and Warrior counters by moving into the clinch.
Warrior keeps control of Liddel as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Warrior breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Liddel takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Liddel has his takedown stuffed
and Warrior counters with a head kick.

Warrior gets a double leg takedown into Liddel's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Warrior has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Liddel is proving hard to escape from.
Liddel is trying to control the position but Warrior postures up.

Warrior looking to pass the guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ultimate Warrior.
Warrior tries to bum rush Liddel with a series of wild strikes but Liddel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Liddel lands a nice hook to Warrior's body. Warrior takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Liddel misses with a takedown attempt - Warrior sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ultimate Warrior has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Liddel.

Liddel throws a head kick but Warrior moves out of range.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Warrior checks a leg kick.
Warrior checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

and Warrior counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Warrior wants to stand but Liddel has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Warrior is working for a kimura but Liddel is defending it quite comfortably.
Liddel is staying active underneath Warrior, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Warrior postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Liddel to stand up.
Warrior blocks a head kick by Liddel.
Liddel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Warrior pinned against the cage. Warrior gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Liddel misses with a double jab.
Warrior shoots in looking for a takedown but Liddel manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Warrior's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Warrior is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Liddel's half guard.
Warrior perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Warrior seems to be looking for submissions.

Warrior is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Liddel doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Warrior.

Liddel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Warrior is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Liddel defends it well.
Liddel wants to improve his position but Warrior is controlling well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Warrior decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ultimate Warrior dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Warrior fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Liddel checks it well.
Warrior moves in looking to clinch but Liddel pushes him off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Warrior looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Warrior shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Liddel pinned against the cage. Liddel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Liddel shoots in looking for a takedown. Warrior tries to sprawl out of it but Liddel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Warrior manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Liddel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Warrior was covering up waiting for the punch and Liddel finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Warrior is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Liddel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Warrior looking to hit a scissor sweep but Liddel is one step ahead there.
Warrior is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Warrior seems keen to control Liddel's posture.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Warrior has his foot on Liddel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Liddel works his way back into a safe position though.
Warrior wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ultimate Warrior wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Liddel tries a head kick but it misses.
Liddel is looking to clinch but Warrior is avoiding it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Warrior is defended easily by Liddel.

Warrior bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Liddel is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Warrior off and has taken his back!

Warrior manages to escape to his feet.
Liddel misses with a wild body shot.
Warrior shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Liddel as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ultimate Warrior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Warrior closes the distance and clinches up with Liddel, looking for a takedown. Warrior pushes Liddel against the cage but Liddel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Liddel shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Warrior manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Warrior on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Warrior tries to get out of the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ultimate Warrior will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Chuck Liddel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Warrior tries to score a power double leg takedown but Liddel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Warrior somewhat.

Liddel's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Liddel duly obliges.
Ultimate Warrior is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Liddel throws a head kick but Warrior moves out of range.

Warrior takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Warrior stuffs the takedown attempt from Liddel. Liddel gets slowly back to his feet.
Liddel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Warrior enables Liddel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Warrior manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Warrior's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Ultimate Warrior wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Warrior shoots for a takedown but Liddel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Warrior thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Liddel wants to get back to his feet but Warrior is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Liddel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Warrior shoots in but no luck this time.
Liddel fails to land with a series of punches.
Warrior misses with a head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Warrior feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ultimate Warrior overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Warrior stands and steps away. Liddel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ultimate Warrior is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Danga de danga de dang - Liddel scores with a four punch combination!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Chuck Liddel.
I think Warrior has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
