Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lex Luther (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beno Gruffo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luther throws a hook but Gruffo blocks it.
Gruffo goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Luther throws a sloppy head kick
and Gruffo counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Luther fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Gruffo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Luther throws a body kick that misses.
Gruffo fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Luther checks it well.

Luther tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gruffo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Gruffo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Luther tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Luther throws a wild body kick that Gruffo sees coming a mile off.
Luther tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gruffo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Luther punishes Gruffo's body with a nice straight punch.
Gruffo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Luther is breathing heavily.

The fighters circling - Luther throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Luther closes the distance and clinches.
Gruffo lands a right hand.
Gruffo on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Gruffo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Luther tries to clinch but Gruffo is having none of it.
Gruffo cracks Luther with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Gruffo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Luther takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Gruffo lands with a kick to the temple. Luther shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Luther takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Luther drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Gruffo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Luther throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gruffo drives through and clinches with Luther against the cage.

Gruffo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gruffo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A solid leg kick lands there for Gruffo.
Gruffo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Gruffo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gruffo lands a big head kick that sends Luther tumbling to the mat! Gruffo takes a step backwards and waves Luther back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Luther is rocked!
Gruffo circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Luther to the canvas! Luther doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Gruffo keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
