Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gohan Son!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Son swats away the attempt to clinch by Washington.
Washington wants to clinch but Son slips to the side

and Son counters with a takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Son decides to stand back up.
Son tries to score a power double leg takedown but Washington sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Son somewhat.

Washington closes the distance and clinches.

Washington gets a trip takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Son tries to get to full guard but Washington has control of the leg.

Son wants to control but Washington is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Washington has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Son works to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Son seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Washington gets to his feet - Son follows without any prompting.

and Son counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Washington's guard now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Washington looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Washington wants to stand and escape but Son is having none of it.
Son is standing up over Washington. Washington looks to escape but Son dives into side control.
Washington takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Son has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Son remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Son is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Washington has escaped the position, nice work there.
Washington is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Son scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Washington to see if he's OK.

Son decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Keith Washington seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Washington takes the fight into the clinch.

Washington pulls Son into guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Son chips away with some ground and pound.
Son prevents Washington from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gohan Son dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Son counters with a nice double leg into side control. Washington won't be happy with that.
Washington dodges the ground and pound from Son.
Washington is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Son asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Washington takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Son advances nicely into full mount.

Son has isolated one of Washington's arms. Washington looking to fight him off but Son twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
