PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Toms Gailitis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francis Pushkar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gailitis comes into the arena with Niggas in Paris blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Toms Gailitis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Francis Pushkar!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pushkar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gailitis sprawls well initially but Pushkar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gailitis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Pushkar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pushkar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Well, if Pushkar is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Gailitis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pushkar on the ground.

Pushkar seems to be looking for submissions.
Gailitis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pushkar is figuring out what he wants to do next.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pushkar is controlling the pace.
Pushkar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gailitis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pushkar.
Pushkar content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Francis Pushkar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Pushkar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gailitis's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gailitis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gailitis tries to get out of the position.
Pushkar forces his way into half guard.
Pushkar drops an elbow to the side of Gailitis's head.
Pushkar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Pushkar is working for a submission of some sort.
Pushkar is nestled in close to Gailitis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pushkar keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
It looks like Pushkar might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Gailitis is looking for a sweep. Pushkar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Pushkar seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Gailitis is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
