The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pettis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Adu to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Adu postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Adu keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pettis's head.
Adu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pettis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Adu is pressing down on Pettis's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
