The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Secoy scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Penn throws a sloppy head kick and Secoy moves out of range easily.
Secoy wants to clinch up but Penn keeps it at a distance.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Penn.
Secoy takes a swing at Penn's ribcage but misses.
Penn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Penn tries to work over Secoy's front leg with a kick but Secoy checks it.
Secoy avoids a kick to the body.
Penn pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Penn finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Secoy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Penn counters with a leg kick.

Secoy could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Penn shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Penn delivers a nice body kick.

Secoy closes the distance and pushes Penn back into the cage.
Penn has had enough of the clinch but Secoy keeps him there for the moment.
Penn wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Secoy tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Penn's elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Penn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Penn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Good leg kick by Penn there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Secoy is breathing heavily.
Secoy shoots in for a double leg but Penn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Penn connects with an inside leg kick.
Penn lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Penn misses with a head kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Secoy tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Secoy clinches up with Penn and pushes him back against the cage.

Penn has had enough of the clinch but Secoy keeps him there for the moment.
A frustrated look appears on Penn's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Secoy works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Secoy trying to control the position from guard on top but Penn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Azamat Secoy.

Secoy has Penn pressed against the cage, preventing Penn from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Secoy manages to break the clinch.

Penn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Secoy.

Secoy throws an overhand right that lands on Penn's shoulder, as Penn tries to avoid the shot.

Secoy tests Penn's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Secoy cracks Penn with a right hand to the side of the head.
Penn misses with a low kick as Secoy jumps back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Secoy throws a looping overhand right but Penn ducks down to avoid it.

Secoy is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
